According to the Energy Information Administration, nearly all of the renewable diesel produced in the United States is used in California. The California Air Resources Board has a comment period open to consider changes to its low-carbon fuel standards. “They want to make deeper carbon intensity reductions of their transportation fuels,” said Chris Bliley, senior vice president of regulatory affairs, Growth Energy. “There are some provisions on the sustainability of feedstocks and they’re removing the current exemption for aviation fuel.” Bliley is concerned about the new standards and their impact on the renewable energy industry.
