Acreage decisions are still being made for 2024, but Hanson expects barley acres to decline. “Barley contracts are tough to come by,” said Jason Hanson, owner, Rock and Roll Agronomy. “I see more interest in canola, but right now everything is kind of up in the air.” Market demand has pushed growers to lock in corn and sunflower seed. Hanson is an organizer of Agronomy On Ice at Devils Lake on February 7. Hanson said the event will still take place if ice thickness is an issue, but adjustments will be made.
