The Hamas surprise weekend attack on Israel has given oil prices a boost. The war does not have a direct impact on grain markets, but any escalation of war would have a significant effect on crude oil prices. With corn and soybeans having an energy component, there is a spillover influence from crude oil markets in the overnight grain trade. Those gains backed off when the grain market opened this morning.
