University of Minnesota Extension Farm Safety Educator Emily Krekelberg says this time of year is extremely important to make healthier decisions for a successful harvest season. Rest and nutrition can be key to staying alert and safe. “Even though it is busy, we are stretched thin and the days are long, we still need to take care of ourselves.” Safety is also a consideration. Cleaning out equipment at the end of the day can prevent fires. “We’re going to be picking up a lot of extra dry matter, dust, leaves and stems that would be perfect tinder if they stay in that combine.” Hear the full conversation with Emily Krekelberg here.
