U.S. Trade Representative Chief Ag Negotiator Doug McKalip says the dispute between U.S.- Mexico biotech corn issue could affect farmer’s productivity. “They have put in place presidential decrees that threatens to disrupt trade, potentially harm U.S. farmers, and stifle innovation.” The U.S. has since requested a dispute panel. According to McKalip, the next steps include establishing panel members and present the case. The process should wrap up by mid-2024.
