The former leader of Growth Energy and the National Farmers Union came out of semi-retirement to become the CEO of the American Carbon Alliance. In an interview with the Red River Farm Network, Tom Buis said more needed to be done to highlight the positive aspects of carbon and its impact on farmers. “The benefits, they’re economic,” said Buis. “You’re going to see see net farm income go up, you’re going to see the ethanol industry expand and you’re going to see Rural America having a stake in the future of fuels in this country.” Pipelines and the concept of carbon capture have their critics. Buis said that criticism is coming from some of the same groups that were behind the food-versus-fuel debate years ago and those arguments were not grounded in science.
