Kansas State University Extension Agronomist Luke Haag says mindset and conditions are drastically different than they were earlier this spring. “We went from unbelievable drought and liquidating cow herds to pastures in good condition and fighting weeds because of the moisture in the last three months or so.” Other crops are struggling due to extreme weather. Hail has wiped out some corn and sorghum fields. Irrigation is getting started with high temperatures. Haag says with the recent moisture, this is one of the latest years he’s seen irrigation get going.
