Due to extremely dry conditions in parts of the state, the Minnesota Drought Task Force has begun weekly meetings. Agriculture Commissioner Thom Petersen said calls are made to share information with “the DNR, Extension, FSA and RMA.” Hope remains for rain, but Petersen told RRFN said conditions are challenging in a large share of Minnesota. If a disaster is declared, zero-interest loans become available. “We saw a lot of use with that in 2021 when we had that very bad drought.”
