Rains have been spotty, but mostly beneficial for Wendell, Minnesota farmer Ben Brutlag. The fields that missed the rains are showing some crop stress. “We’ve been fortunate to keep getting rain just as we need it. We’re not seeing any excess by any means now, but you don’t have to get far away to find where spring was tough on the crop with lack of moisture.” Spraying for cercospora leaf spot control has started in the sugarbeets. The application season has been going smooth and steady. “We had so much wind last year and this year wind has been more favorable to get timely and correct spraying done.”
