USDA Meteorologist Brad Rippey says the early April blizzard is adding concern to livestock producers who are in the middle of calving and lambing. “This has been a very difficult storm with producers trying to get their livestock through the birthing season amid blizzard conditions, high wind, and bitter cold.” According to USDA, calving is only 39 percent complete in North Dakota, and increase mortality is expected due to the blizzard.
