The U.S. federal courts are fining Glencore $700 million. This huge fine is due to allegations of bribes being paid to officials in Brazil, Nigeria, Venezuela and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. These bribes were made to avoid audits or to secure business. The Swiss-based commodities company has already paid millions of dollars in response to allegations of market manipulation.
