Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack announced Phase Two of the Emergency Relief Program one week ago. More details have emerged since that announcement. North Dakota Farm Service Agency Executive Director Marcy Svenningsen says the enrollment begins before the end of the month. “Sign-up will open January 23 and continue until June 2.” Phase Two will compensate farmers for shallow losses. “These programs look at revenue, so they really only aim to cover shallow losses or people who weren’t insured from Phase One.” Farmers should visit their local FSA offices to determine eligibility.
