The year-end spending bill in the Senate includes $250 million for a one-time payment for rice growers. A recent study conducted by Texas A&M University found rice farms would be hurt the hardest by rising crop input costs. A second study by the same school found two-thirds of rice farms they monitored will fail to breakeven this year. Senate Agriculture Committee Ranking Member John Boozman sought this relief package.
