Crop input costs are up significantly this fall. FMC Regional Technical Manager Gail Stratman says that demands a fresh approach to weed control. “The cost of the post emergence herbicides, whether it is dicamba, glufosinate of glyphosate, has risen dramatically, sometimes two-or-three times so that has put a lot more expense into those programs that depend on post emergence.” Stratman says an overlapping strategy with residuals can eliminate one-or-two trips across the field. “Remember, the easiest weed to control is the one that doesn’t come up. Trying to keep control for the first 30-to-60 days is critical in preserving yield potential, manage weed resistance and ultimately save money by avoiding multiple post emergence trips that occur when you let the weeds get away from you.”
