The potato harvest is finished across the Northern Plains. Northland Potato Growers Association Executive Director Donavon Johnson says it was a good year. “It turned out better than expected given the late spring.” Dry soil conditions delayed harvest in some areas. “When you go south of Grand Forks, it was dry. There were growers waiting for rain that didn’t really come and decided to get out what they could for potatoes. You go north of Grand Forks and there was an abundance of rain that many growers said was perfect for harvesting.”
