NDSU Extension Bio-Systems Engineer Ken Hellevang says farmers should be prepared to dry higher moisture corn this fall. “For the corn just now reaching maturity, it could mean the corn needs to be harvested with a moisture content of 20 percent or higher.” About half of the corn in the Dakotas and Minnesota has reached maturity. “At maturity, corn will have a 32-to-35 percent moisture content; there’s a lot of drying required.”
