Southern Minnesota Beet Sugar Cooperative began its pre-pile harvest September 19. Vice President of Agriculture Todd Geselius describes the beet crop has highly variable. “Some areas got planted earlier and got good rain, they got some really nice beets,” said Geselius. “Some areas got planted late and it was really dry, they’re maybe not quite as good.” Geselius is hopeful sugar content will rise.
