North of Bismarck, North Dakota, Clark Coleman is getting ready to chop silage. “About 10 days ago, we had a really nice rain shower that came through. It turned the corn green again,” says Coleman. “Now, it’s started to dry up a bit. We also got hailed corn that we’ll chop up and use for feed.” Coleman is pleased with small grain harvest, which wrapped up in early September. “We actually delivered a load of barley on Friday to Anheuser Busch. It was 12 percent protein, 52 pounds and 98 plump. They were real happy with it. It’s probably the best barley crop we’ve ever had.”
