Everett Markwardt has died at the age of 100. Markwardt is a professor emeritus of agricultural engineering at Cornell. Markwardt’s research focused in mechanizing the harvesting of fruit and vegetable crops, like apples and cabbage. He also led efforts to streamline and support cooperation between extension services in the northeastern United States. Markwardt was born at Bisbee, North Dakota and attended the North Dakota Agricultural College which is now known as North Dakota State University.
