Red River Valley Sugarbeet Growers Association President Neil Rockstad says the American Sugar Alliance’s Sweetener Symposium encompasses the entire sugar industry. “It’s an annual event that’s taken a few years off. This is one of the biggest meetings of the year.” Farm policy is just one of the many topics impacting the sugar industry. “The 2023 Farm Bill is a focus. There are many questions about the upcoming November election and how it could change the drafting of the farm bill. There’s questions about the general economy and inflation. What spending will be available? There’s also global politics to think about.”
