Speaking at the National Strip-Till Conference, University of Minnesota Regional Extension Educator Jodi DeJong-Hughes said strip-tillage can help alleviate soil compaction. “What strip-tlll can do is save more of the soil’s structure or those little aggregates in the soil,” said DeJong-Hughes. “And aggregates are like little minicolumns in the soil that help hold up the weight of equipment so the healthier your soil is the better able it is to resist compaction.”
