The Surface Transportation Board is giving BNSF, CSX, Norfolk Southern and Union Pacific until Thursday to provide supplemental information about their plans to improve rail service. This is the second attempt after the STB said the Class I railroads failed to provide adequate information after a May 6 order. The railroads “submitted plans that were perfunctory and lacked the level of detail that was mandated.” This action is in response to a request made by North Dakota Senator Kevin Cramer about a deterioration in rail service in recent months.
