Northern Crops Marketing and Investments President Brad Paulson thinks the cattle supply is shrinking. “There are talks about smaller feedlots and the independent farmers with 200 head on the farm. They’ve been pushing these cattle out lighter and earlier, because they don’t like feeding them $8 corn, they’d rather sell it. The numbers should get tighter.” Paulson says the bigger concern is meat case demand with energy prices skyrocketing.
