The United States and Japan have signed an agreement to revise the beef safeguard mechanism. U.S. Trade Representative Katherine Tai said this amendment to the U.S.-Japan trade agreement will allow U.S. exporters to meet Japan’s growing demand more reliably for high quality beef. Japan imported $2.4 billion in U.S. beef last year, making it the second largest market for the United States.
