South Dakota Senator John Thune met with conservation and agricultural groups in Aberdeen, South Dakota last week to talk about the conservation title of the farm bill. “We tried to get a sense of how do we get the provisions in the conservation title correct as we think about the upcoming farm bill, especially with everything that’s happening in the world.” Thune said flexibility in haying and grazing Conservation Reserve Program acres is important in South Dakota. “In our part of the world, we’ve had adverse weather conditions, including drought. We want to make sure these programs are flexible enough to be workable and useable.”
