The number of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza cases continues to climb in Minnesota with more than 50 confirmed cases to date. Agriculture Commissioner Thom Petersen says the outbreak is being seen statewide. “We’re seeing HPAI popcorn around the state. It’s heavy in central Minnesota, but it’s also showing up in the north and south.” Petersen said the state biosecurity plans are working with no lateral spread from farm-to-farm. The number of wild birds with avian flu is much larger than in 2015. “We really didn’t see that in the wild bird population at all then and it’s a big concern.”
