U.S. agricultural organizations urged the U.S. Trade Representative and USDA to oppose tariff elimination changes of the U.S.-Panama Trade Promotion Agreement. The agreement, which went into effect in October of 2012, is still being fully implemented with gradual tariff reductions and increased tariff rate quotas. Panama’s tariff rate quotas for pork, chicken, dairy, corn and other commodities have been in place for several years.
