The South Dakota legislative session has wrapped up recently. South Dakota Farmers Union Lobbyist Mitch Richter says the biggest bills focused on water development and workforce housing. “The South Dakota session was really dominated by the budget. There were two main issues that got funded. One was $600 million for water development in South Dakota and the other was $200 million in workforce housing. Most of that money has to be spent by 2027. The legislation put in a lot of rural development which will help with housing and water in small towns.”
