It’s been a very different winter meeting season for BASF Technical Service Representative Ken Deibert. “There’s a great commodity price situation. We have a tremendous amount of optimism there, but then, when you factor in high fertilizer prices and input costs, it’s a much different year. Then, product supplies seem to be dominating a lot of the conversation. The biggest takeaway is the amount of optimism we have moving forward and the overall mood from growers.” If potato growers still need to secure chemicals for the upcoming growing season, Deibert says to start with herbicides. “If you are a potato grower, products like Zidua SC, we just got the registration a few seasons ago. This helps with waterhemp, night shade and grasses. Farmers will want to have that secured going into next season. Potato growers should always check with their processor before purchasing chemical to make sure the products are fully approved for use.” Hear the story.
