The Minnesota Ag Department says the updates are meant to help farmers comply with the state rule, which restricts fall nitrogen fertilizer application in areas vulnerable to contamination. This new map shows public water supply wells with elevated nitrogen levels. The department also made changes to the fall nitrogen fertilizer application restrictions map. At least 20 counties within the Red River Farm Network listening area must follow the restrictions including portions of Becker, Big Stone, Cass, Clearwater, Hubbard, Morrison, Ottertail, Stearns, Swift, Wadena and Wilkin counties.
