A cargo pile-up at West Coast ports has had a negative impact on California farm exports. Port congestion led to an estimated loss of $2.1 billion in foreign sales during a five-month period. California is the largest ag exporting state in the nation, with more than 40 percent of its production going to foreign buyers.
