On Thursday, the National Potato Council met with Prince Edward Island’s Premier Dennis King in Washington, D.C. to discuss safely restoring potato trade. USDA’s APHIS is requiring the Canadian Food Inspection Agency to provide comprehensive data indicating where potato wart has been found. Based on that information, the two agencies can agree on additional mitigation efforts. Certain requirements will need to be in place before potato trade can resume.
