According to the North Dakota Department of Agriculture, a farmer discovered Palmer amaranth while combining in Ward County. The DNA samples were confirmed by the National Ag Genotyping Center in Fargo, North Dakota. In a statement, Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring suggested the noxious weed may have been spread by hay or feed screenings.
