Near Brocket, North Dakota, Austin Sundeen finished corn harvest before the week’s rains. That means harvest is officially done for the year on the farm. “We saw the rain in the forecast, gathered up all of the neighbor’s trucks to give it one last push. The combines finished up early Wednesday and now, everything is full of grain.” Sundeen thinks other farmers in the area were waiting for corn moisture to go down more before harvesting. “They wanted the crop to be dry enough to skip the dryer and take it right to town. That doesn’t seem to be the case now. There’s probably going to be 26 to 27 percent moisture out in the field. It will be some work before it gets dry again.”
