The Northern Plains continues to see some of the best basis levels as harvest continues. Van Ahn and Company market analyst Kristi Van Ahn remains friendly for basis through January. “I think there will be a point in December where people will be looking for grain. Producers in the Dakotas and western Minnesota will have already shut their bin doors and by then, they decide to take a break. At that time, end-users will be looking for bushels. If you have a great basis level with soybeans right now, take it.” Van Ahn is nervous about the soybean market in 2022. “I get nervous about January, when we know a little bit more about South America production.”
