Despite the huge challenges facing cattle producers, members of the North Dakota Stockmen’s Association came together with an optimistic voice in Fargo over the weekend. President Jeff Schafer of New Rockford says it’s often too easy to get caught up in the negatives. “You know, there’s no ‘one size fits all’ approach to issues like the drought. Sometimes we have to let go of what we can’t control and move forward.” At convention, members discussed industry issues at the grassroots level to implement policy priorities that will pave the way for the year ahead. “A couple that came about from the conversations and resolutions process are dealing with dealer insolvency and continuing to work on solving price disparity issues.” NDSA achieved a new membership record of 3,126. That number surpasses the old record by 116 members. The Association has also secured a location for the organization headquarters, which will be moved to North Bismarck. Schafer says more details on the groundbreaking process are to come. Listen to the interview with Schafer.
