Drought conditions are improving across the Northern Plains. The latest U.S. Drought Monitor shows the diagonal band of exceptional drought in northwest Minnesota gone. Now, abnormally dry to extreme drought conditions remain across much of the state. Exceptional drought remains in North Dakota, but only in Golden Valley County, the far southwestern corner of the state. The majority of North Dakota remains in moderate to extreme drought conditions. South Dakota also had a decline in drought conditions, with a reduction in extreme drought in the southeastern part of the state in the last week. Portions of eastern South Dakota are no longer in a drought.
