Carpio, North Dakota farmer and the president of the Northern Canola Growers Association Pat Murphy wrapped up canola harvest over Labor Day weekend. “We’ve had yields ranging from 1,200 pounds to 2,100 pounds. That’s remarkable. As hot as it was and as little rain as we got, we’re so impressed. I guess it’s a real tribute to the breeding and genetics that have developed over the years,” said Murphy. “I haven’t heard too many people not pleasantly surprised. Yes, there are areas that didn’t turn out as well, but overall, we’re pleased.” Murphy will harvest soybeans next. “Soybeans will be harvested in a matter of days. For our farm, it all depends on the weather.”
