The U.S. House passed a budget resolution last week. Senate Agriculture Committee Chairwoman Debbie Stabenow has been working with House Agriculture Committee leaders on how to spend the money authorized by the resolution. “I can tell you we’ll have robust investments in climate smart agriculture and forestry. It’s going to be enough to really move forward in a robust way.” Stabenow says leaders are evaluating goals to build important areas in addition to what was included in the bipartisan infrastructure deal. “We’ll have exact numbers coming out in awhile, but I feel very good about where we’ll be on the Growing Climate Solutions Act of 2021. Probably the only area of concern I’ve had is when the president released his jobs plan, the fact that they started with $1 billion in climate smart agriculture. I can assure you, it will be much more than that.”
