Production uncertainty is leading to marketing hesitancy among grain traders. Van Ahn and Company market analyst Kristi Van Ahn says the biggest uncertainty is Iowa’s corn crop. “Iowa got great rains coming into pollination and then, they went back to hot and dry at the end of July. We know there’s severe problems in areas, but there are things we don’t know.” Until traders get a better grip on production, Van Ahn says the market will be choppy. “It would also be nice to see China come back in and buy, but things have been really quiet lately.”
