The House and Senate Agriculture Committees are considering an extension of the WHIP+ program. This program began as a temporary program to provide relief for farmers hurt by natural disasters in 2018 and 2019. North Dakota Senator John Hoeven recently spoke to the Red River Farm Network about potential WHIP+ coverage for 2020 and 2021. “The first issue is just making sure there is funding. We just got done with additional WHIP+ for prior years, but with this drought year, I’ll need to work to make sure funding is available.” Hoeven is the Ranking Member on the Senate Agriculture Appropriations Committee.
