The Northern Plains drought is having an impact on crop health. Mosaic Senior Technical Sales Manager Sherry Koch says crops are showing symptoms of drought and nutrient deficiency. “When we talk about plant mobile nutrients, the lower, older leaves will show nutrient deficiencies first. When nutrients aren’t plant mobile, like micronutrients, we see symptoms in newer leaves,” explains Koch. “There are differences between drought and nutrient deficiencies. Our best bet this time of the year to understand what’s happening in the field is to get a tissue sample.” Tissue sampling gives farmers options. “Farmers can decide whether or not they want to do something about it.” Hear the story.
