North Dakota Senator John Hoeven is pleased to see the Risk Management Agency take action to help farmers and ranchers in drought. Hoeven hosted RMA Acting Administrator Richard Flournoy in North Dakota in early July. “This was the main thing we asked the RMA to do and we appreciate RMA being responsive.” Hoeven is encouraging USDA’s Farm Service Agency to adjust the haying date of CRP acres, ahead of August 1. Hoeven talked with FSA Administrator Zach Ducheneaux about that and updates to the Livestock Forage Program on Tuesday. “I also hoped the USDA could increase the reimbursement rate on LFP, but I that’s something that has to be changed by Congress. That takes longer to do. We’ve been asking FSA if there are other administrative things that can be done, in addition to changes to CRP haying.”
