The President’s executive order will also result in new rules defining when meat can feature the ‘Product of the USA’ label. White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said this will give consumers accurate, transparent labels that allows them to know where their food comes from. In 2015, the short-lived country-of-origin labeling was repealed. The current ‘Product of the USA’ label means it was processed in the United States, but could be imported product. This is currently a voluntary label and is not verified by the government.
