North Dakota farmers planted a record large 7.2 million acre soybean crop this spring. That’s up from 5.7 million acres last year. Corn acreage also increased in North Dakota moving from 1.9 million acres last year to 3.6 million this year. The change was less dramatic in Minnesota with soybean acreage increasing 300,000 acres and corn acreage up by 500,000 acres. South Dakota farmers planted 5.5 million acres of soybeans. That’s up from 4.9 million acres in 2020. South Dakota corn acres rose from 4.9 million acres to 6 million.
