Minnesota Agriculture Commissioner Thom Petersen says there was wide-ranging support for the omnibus agriculture finance bill. “It passed the Senate 63-3 and in the House 112-to-20 so getting both parties to agree to things is great.” This new law will support small livestock packer facilities and build out infrastructure for the ethanol industry. “With $3 million per year ongoing for the next four years, the (Minnesota) Corn Growers Association came in as we were debating the bill and dedicated $1 million in matching dollars.” In an interview with the Red River Farm Network, Petersen also discusses the drought and the need for COVID vaccinations in rural Minnesota.
