Higher commodity prices don’t mean much if you can’t grow a crop. South Dakota Representative Dusty Johnson said that is a reality during this drought. “People are really starting to hurt out there.” The South Dakota congressional delegation is urging USDA to open CRP for emergency haying and grazing. “The problem is if you wait until too late in the year, there is very little nutritional value in that forage and if we could unwrap just a little earlier it will have a lot more value in the belly.”
