POET has acquired the bioethanol assets of Flint Hills Resources, expanding the company’s capacity by 40 percent. The acquisition includes six bioprocessing facilities in Iowa, Nebraska and two terminals in Texas and Georgia. POET will now operate 33 bioprocessing facilities in eight states, with a combined annual capacity of three billion gallons. POET CEO Jeff Broin said the move is meant to demonstrate the company’s commitment to the future of low-carbon, plant-based liquid fuels.
