The a wide-window of planting right now across the Northern Plains. “There’s corn in the ground, soybeans going in or people waiting to plant soybeans. Some wheat is seeded and others are still planting,” said Jason Hanson, agronomist, Rock n’ Roll Agronomy. “There’s a potpourri of many different things happening. I think a lot of this has to do with the field moisture conditions and what people are deciding or can’t decide to do. It’s extremely tough to make that call this year.” Hanson said if farmers wait for more moisture for fieldwork, additional patience is key. “The temperatures are still cool, but that will translate to harvest. The way farmers seed this year will affect that. We’ll have to bottle up the patience this spring and use it for next fall.”
