The interest in carbon markets is growing. Indigo Ag Senior Manager of Partnerships and Grower Advocacy Ryan Stockwell says organizations and companies across different sectors are turning to agriculture to help meet their sustainability goals. “Agriculture can satisfy the need and provide the product for the market through carbon credits. At the same time, improve effectiveness of their operations.” To participate in Indigo Ag’s carbon program, farmers implement cover crops, reduce tillage and or establish other farming practices to increase soil organic matter and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Indigo Ag has farmers participating in the carbon program across North Dakota, South Dakota and Minnesota. “It’s not just generating a carbon credit. We want to work with growers to implement a practice that helps improve their farming operation.”
